“I have been fly fishing with Mike for more than 20 years. Everything I know about this wonderful pastime I have learned from Mike. He is a real professional – by far the best guide I have ever had – and one of my best friends “

“I’ve been fly fishing with Mike for about 12 years, on both the South Fork of the Snake River and the Clearwater River. In that time, he’s became more of a friend or proxy family member than a “hired” guide. However, he is an exceptional fly fishing guide and a superior oarsmen! He’s very easy to be with in the drift boat all day, and he leaves the “guide” ego at the door. He will gladly accommodate your float to your desired wish. I annually look forward to exploring the many side channels present on the South Fork, trying to bring fish up. If you’re paying to float and fish because you don’t have a drift boat and want to cover water, I’d highly recommend Mike, so as to ensure you’re money is well spent!”

“Have fished with guides all over the world and I’ve fished with Mike Bean on various rivers in eastern Idaho (but mostly the South Fork of the Snake) for the past 20+ years and can honestly say that there is no better fly fishing guide anywhere. He has a keen instinct for locating trout in some very unlikely places.”

“Having fished from Iceland to Russia to Argentina and beyond, I can honestly say that fishing with Mike Bean is still, in my mind, the quintessential experience that the sport has to offer. No-one I have ever met knows rivers like Mike. Yes, the South Fork of the Snake is his “go-to” river, but I have fished with him elsewhere as well and the expertise is still visible. He knows the waters, the fish habitats, the bugs, and provides the angler with a wealth of knowledge and guidance as each day progresses. In addition he doesn’t overpower you with instructions unless you ask, and then the approach is thoughtful and educational. I am also proud to say that I know Mike’s family and have considered all of them personal friends for over the 20 years that I have been fishing with Mike.”

“Mary and lucked out getting hooked up with Mike the first time. I called about a week out from when I wanted a trip and the owner said let me check, and quickly came back with “Wow, Mike Bean is available and he’s never available. ” That started a friendship that has lasted now several years on the South Fork. Whatever the weather conditions, Mike has put us on fish. Most days we’ve had with Mike, even when it seems there are boats on every gravel bar, have been “Good” to “Great” to “Epic!” I accuse him of having big fish staked out in places no one knows about. He has unbelievable patience and is a great teacher when asked. In addition, he’s a genuinely great guy. We enjoy swapping fishing stories, and have grown to enjoy talking football. I have converted Mike to pulling for Alabama and he’s converted me to pulling for Washington State. It’s easy to talk about both, but especially neat to keep up with the latest stories on the “Ole Pirate” at WSU Mike Leach. Our annual trips are coming up soon and we are excited about getting back together.”
